Fork in the Road
This week we are hitting a fork in the road in art. On one end we have the minimalist that leads to the death of painting. One the other end we have those that want to reference what we see everyday and those are the pop artist.
One of the most famous artist of the pop culture time is Andy Warhol. Jasper Johns famous for the American flag painting and Andy Warhol famous Campbell Soup can - " I eat soup everyday, lets celebrate that like we celebrate a king or religion?" How can you compare soup to those two?!?!
Professor Pecks favorite moment for Andy Warhol was the Brillo Soap Box. What is a Brillo Soap? Am I showing my age? I think they look completely different now. But the advertisement for these items were not something you would traditionally see in a gallery.

Leo Constelli - key player in the art scene in New York and how it continued to change. His gallery set the tone for artist and other galleries in the city.
Robert Rousinberg - instrumental in beginning the minimalism era. Josph Alberts - study aesthetics also instrumental in the minimalism era.
Art begins to take a direction to either change what you see or change how you think. The rules are starting to change depending on the direction you take at this fork in the road.
